This course carries a nationally recognised ‘Skills for Security' certificate in Confrontation Management Training for each student who successfully completes the course.
Certification is mandatory at an additional cost of £10 per student

Training Prospectus
Course Aim
The purpose of this course is to train personnel in the REACT System created by Steve Collins for Confrontation Management, Self Defence and Personal Protection. The training will equip the student with appropriate low risk countermeasures to combat the threat of violence or an actual physical attack, thus improving staff, customer and personnel safety.
Course duration
The course will run for one (1) full day with appropriate comfort breaks and lunch
The Training
Course Content
Session 1.
This session lasts for 3 hours (inclusive of breaks) and covers: -
An introduction to the REACT system and how, by following the logical sequence, the students can quickly Recognise a potential threat, Evaluate its seriousness, consider the appropriate Alternative actions available, Concentrate all their physical and mental actions and choose the correct Tactical solution to Terminate a problem.
By the end of the first session students will: -
• Understand the principals of the REACT system.
• Be able to describe what the REACT acronym stands for.
• Be able to define the 5 main categories of the REACT system.
• Understand the principal of the Tactical Toolbox.
• Recognise the different types of threat.
• Recognise the different types of aggression
• Recognise the warning signs of aggression.
• Recognise the danger signs of aggression
• Understand the difference between warning signs and danger signs.
• Understand how the REACT colour coding and table of escalation response system works
• Be able to respond in an appropriate manner to a potentially violent situation.
There will be a Q&A session before the students break for lunch.
Session 2.
This session lasts for 2 1/2 hours (inclusive of breaks) and covers: -
A basic hands on session in appropriate physical intervention techniques. Although this section cannot possibly cover every eventuality and situation, it will give the students a solid foundation of skill and knowledge in the application of non-violent physical contact and low-risk countermeasures.
By the end of the session students will: -
• Understand the principal of the 5Ts
• Understand the windows of opportunity.
• Recognise all the basic types of attack
• Be able to understand and guard the comfort zones.
• Be able to execute fundamental techniques of extraction and disengagement.
• Be able to execute fundamental techniques of interception and redirection of blows.
• Be able to execute basic holding skills.
