Course Aim
The purpose of this training course is to meet the specific needs of the government and security business sectors in training key personnel in security searching with a strong emphasis on the threat from terrorism. As well as giving the student a thorough understanding of the threat from terrorism to the industry that they work in, they will learn how to react safely to a security incident.
The course concentrates on mastering the techniques of searching
1. People and their luggage
2. Motor Vehicles
3. Buildings
4. Outside areas.
This course lends itself to the training of established or newly formed security teams within organisations and businesses, no previous experience is necessary. This is a highly intensive course based in part on the competencies required of a UK Police Search Team member and therefore requires robust student assessments and an examinable component. The course carries a nationally recognised Skills for Security certificate for those students successfully completing and passing the assessments and examination.
Course duration
This 5 part modular course is delivered over 3 consecutive days.
The Training
Module 1
THE THREAT FROM TERRORISM
Module Aim
To introduce the students to the threat posed by terrorism to themselves, their colleagues and the public and how ‘search' is an effective counter terrorist security measure.
Module 2
SEARCHING PEOPLE
Module Aim
To train the students how to search people and their hand baggage so that at the end of the module the student will be able to conduct Counter Terrorist Security Searches that are thorough, systematic and legal.
Module 3
SEARCHING VEHICLES
Module Aim
To train the students how to search vehicles and their contents so that at the end of the module the student will be able to conduct Counter Terrorist Security Searches that are thorough, systematic and legal.
Module 4
SEARCHING PREMISES
Module Aim
To train the students how to search premises so that at the end of the module the student will be able to conduct Counter Terrorist Searches that are thorough and systematic.
Module 5
SEARCHING OPEN AREAS
Module Aim
To train the students how to search open areas so that at the end of the module the student will be able to conduct Counter Terrorist Security Searches that are thorough and systematic.
This course carries a nationally recognised ‘Skills for Security' certificate in Counter Terrorist Search Procedures Training for each student who successfully completes the course.
Certification is mandatory at an additional cost of £10 per student
